Hello neighbours,

Sorry we could not be in attendance for this year's AGM.

I would like to firstly thank all of the volunteer SICA board members for their hard work over the past year. Without you, and your families "Our Great Little Community" would not be so Great.

I mention families because sometimes they miss their mom's and dad's and partners with all the commitment it takes to be a part of the SICA board. With volunteer time, usually something has to give. And sometimes the give is missing out on the other important part of our lives here in Burkeville. Our great family atmosphere and pride of being Burkevillians is what makes our community so rich and such a great place to live.

30 years ago Susan and I and our 3 boyzzz came here in a covered wagon from across the vast stretches of Richmond, and we never looked back. OK, so it was a 1978 Buick Station Wagon, but you get the idea. Burkeville has been great to all of us over the years with many close and long term relationships sewn.

I say this every year and I will say it again:

“Encourage your friends and neighbours to be a part of our community. Don't just live here, BE HERE!! BE PRESENT!! Chances are we all moved here with the idea that it was going to be, and is, such a perfect place for our kids and extended family to feel safe and have fun. Plant your roots and do the very best that you can for your neighbours and yourselves. This is a community that allows each of us, older and younger, to really be a part of something special, so please do not miss out on such a great opportunity. Get involved even just a tiny bit as it makes a huge difference. And guaranteed, you will walk away with a smile, and some new and long-term friends too.”
